Re-Centering Malabar Bridging Growth Gaps in Kerala's Future

Although the demand for Malabar's development alongside the rest of Kerala is frequently raised, it is rarely realized. This disparity persists despite the significant financial contributions of Malabar's expatriates to the state's resource mobilization. However, there is hope that the V.D. Satheesan-led government will take a different approach to address this issue.

To present an accurate picture to the government, the C.H. Mohammed Koya Chair at Calicut University is conducting an in-depth inquiry into the extent of regional backwardness across various departments and formulating potential solutions.

As an initial step, this study focuses on three key areas: regional disparities in public expenditure, and the challenges and solutions within Malabar's higher education and fisheries sectors. (Issues related to other departments will be discussed in subsequent phases).
